Germany – BaFin (Federal Financial Supervisory Authority)

Official consumer warning issued on 17 October 2023 (published 19 October):

“BaFin warns consumers about the company MEXC and the services it is offering. BaFin has information that the company is offering financial services on its website mexc.com without the required authorisation.”

Reason: Financial services require authorisation under the German Banking Act (KWG). BaFin is investigating the matter and strongly advises checking the official register of authorised companies and exercising extreme caution against fraud.

France – AMF (Autorité des Marchés Financiers)

www.mexc.com has been added to the official Blacklist since 4 June 2024.

Reason: “Offers financial services or products without authorisation.” It is illegal to deal with blacklisted entities.

Hong Kong – SFC (Securities and Futures Commission)

Official warning issued on 15 March 2024:

“The SFC warns the public against an unlicensed virtual asset trading platform known as ‘MEXC’. The platform is actively marketing its services to Hong Kong investors without a licence or having applied for one. Operating or marketing such a platform is a criminal offence under the Anti-Money Laundering Ordinance.”

It is the second warning from the SFC. The regulator advises the public not to trade on unregulated platforms to avoid the risk of losing their entire investment.

Australia – ASIC (Australian Securities and Investments Commission)

MEXC Global (www.mexc.com) is listed on the official Investor Alert List.

Warning: “Be wary of dealing with this business as it is unlicensed in Australia and may be offering unauthorised investment services.” It does not hold an Australian Financial Services (AFS) licence.

Japan – FSA (Financial Services Agency)

Has issued warnings since November 2023 for failure to register as a crypto asset exchange.

In February 2025, the FSA formally requested Apple and Google to remove the MEXC app (along with Bybit, KuCoin and others) from their Japanese app stores, making the app unsearchable and unavailable for download in Japan.

Reason: Repeated non-compliance with registration requirements.

Canada (including Quebec): Warnings from provincial securities regulators against unlicensed operations.

Estonia: Licence of MEXC Estonia OÜ revoked by the Estonian FIU in November 2023 (under appeal).

Seychelles: Licence-related regulatory actions reported.

Italy & Netherlands: Subject to CONSOB and other measures against unauthorised platforms offering services to residents.

Malaysia: Securities Commission (SC) has flagged MEXC for operating a digital asset trading platform without registration.
